Ever wonder how many “birthday buddies” you might have?

Innovation Simple

Since the first documented birthday invitation by Claudia Severa sometime during 100 A.D. birthdays have come a long way. Whether it was the $27.2 million-dollar birthday party for the Sultan of Brunei or the 128,238 pound birthday cake celebrating the 100th birthday of Fort Payne, Alabama, people have really learned how to celebrate birth.

Have you ever wondered how common your birthday is?

NPR data journalist Matt Stiles created a heat map that showed the most common birth dates. The map shows that for Americans between the ages of 14 and 40, September 16th is the most common birthday. Those that were born on September 16th were mostly conceived on December 24th. Not only is September pretty much a solid block of common birthdays, but most birthdays center around the summer months.

Weird fact? The 13th of each month usually has less birthdays on it.

January is the overall least common month to have a birthday in. In the months of November and December, Thanksgiving and Christmas are some of the least common times to be born while the weeks before and after those holidays are fairly common.

For those of you born on February 29th, you’re just plain out of luck.
