Get Organized About It!
Social media marketing has become almost vital to a business’s success, especially now that so many people are on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and other social media sites. With these sites becoming so popular, it’s no surprise that some third-party sites and programs have also become popular. In addition to allowing you to post on social media sites, these programs give you a number of options that can make it easier to control when your posts are made and see how good of a response you’re getting. But they’re not all the same. Here are three of the most popular programs and how they work.
HootSuite
HootSuite allows you to add multiple Twitter, Facebook, and Google Plus accounts to your HootSuite account, so you only have to log in to one account to be able to post to all of them. You can schedule your posts in advance, do bulk scheduling, and view monthly reports. HootSuite has different levels of use—while the basic version is free, the more useful versions have a monthly fee.
SocialOomph
SocialOomph is a Twitter-related site that helps you control your tweets. It lets you schedule tweets just like HootSuite, plus you can save your tweets and reuse them later. URL shortening is built in, too. You can delete tweets, re-tweet them, and track the keywords you’ve used. SocialOomph doesn’t charge for any of their features, nor are free accounts limited to a number of Twitter accounts. While most of its features revolve around Twitter, SocialOomph has expanded to allow scheduling for posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social sites.
TweetDeck
TweetDeck, however, is exclusively for Twitter. It has many of the same features as SocialOomph, but it has some differences, too. TweetDeck was created by Twitter, giving it a bit of an edge over other platforms. It’s also integrated with Chrome, Google’s internet browser, and users can use the Chrome TweetDeck app to quickly send a tweet. It also allows users to schedule tweets, customize how they view their Twitter feeds, and add alerts. TweetDeck was available as an app for iPhone and Android, but Twitter shut down these apps in early 2013 to focus on the web-based version of TweetDeck.
Which Is Right For You?
At a glance, these three sites don’t seem that different, but you may find that one of them is a much better fit for your needs than the others. Since all of them have free versions, it may be best to give each of them a shot before deciding which one you want to use long-term.
