Welcome to Utah, Aero.
Aero, a relatively new, online television service, has recently launched its services in Salt Lake City and is now available throughout all of Utah. On August 19, 2013, Utah became the newest addition to the Aero community. The Salt Lake City area (as well as the rest of Utah) was chosen because of its tech-savvy reputation.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, “Aereo.com is an Internet-based TV service whose subscribers can view their local over-the-air broadcast networks, as well as more than 20 other networks, on Internet-connected devices such as computers, mobile phones and tablets.” Aero also allows you to record shows so you can watch them later, much like a DVR without the little (or big) box.
Since its creation, the system has been extremely controversial and has led to many attempted lawsuits, seeing as it disrupts a huge industry that could suffer from this huge transition to the Internet. This, of course, is not the first time that a major transition has been fought against in any industry, and Aero trudges forward unaffected.
