The Most American Mexican Holiday

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!!! It’s time to bust out the chips and queso, the guacamole, and that mariachi CD you got from the international music section at Barnes and Noble! But do know what this day is actually celebrating?

Not what you might think…

If you guessed Mexican Independence Day, you’re wrong, but you’re not alone. That would be September 16th. Today, May 5th, marks the day that a ragtag group of Mexican soldiers stopped a French invasion of the city of Puebla. But here’s the crazy thing: Cinco de Mayo is actually a bigger holiday in the U.S. than it is in Mexico! After the victory in Puebla, and future victories with help from U.S. military, this day became a symbol of resistance that spread to the United States’ Civil War.

Symbols and Marketing

It’s funny how once an idea or an event becomes a symbol for something, it can spread like wildfire and become an integral part of people’s lives! Take, for example, the use of company logos. A great logo is more than just a combination of shapes and colors–it represents what your company is all about! The symbols that represent you are an extremely important part of your marketing strategy! Let us help you stand out in the crowd and convey a message to your customers through great logo design, website creation, and marketing strategies. And have a great Cinco de Mayo!
