Autumn is in the air – we’re feelin’ it here in Provo! It’s just starting to get cool enough to wear a sweatshirt and drink hot cocoa. For many people fall is just a looming threat of the winter to come. You’ve probably heard talk of an eternal spring. I’m not interested in an eternal spring. I want to live in an eternal fall. Once color hits the leaves it’s time to hit the great outdoors and find an adventure. Do you need help finding fall adventures? Here’s a small list of my favorites:

  • Autumn Walks. Now wait a minute. Don’t feel fooled. When I said adventures you probably had skydiving in mind. Taking a walk can be an adventure. There is little I enjoy more than walking and thinking out loud with a trusted friend. Add some painted trees to the mixture and bring a camera.

  • Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Need I say more? If you don’t have a recipe, here is one of my favorites. This is the easiest and fastest pumpkin cookie recipe I’ve ever made.

  • Football is back and we missed it. Enjoy football for all it’s worth. Go to a game or play your own game. Even a simple game of catch can break the monotony of a boring afternoon.

  • Rock Climbing. The rocks are now cool enough to climb at midday without burning your fingers. There are few things more exhilarating than reaching the top of a climb and looking down at the majesty of the great outdoors.

  • Tire swings and destroying neatly raked piles of leaves. This is an ideal time to take the kids out and go to the park. Rake some leaves and suffer through raking them again when they ruin your immaculate pile.

  • Road trips. Taking a long drive in the winter is miserable. In the fall it’s a treat!

  • Barbecue. Invite the neighbors over for a barbecue. It’s not too cold to sit around a grill and show off your fire cooking prowess.

Fall is about enjoying good weather while you still have it. Don’t waste it away indoors. It’s time to go outside and do something fun! If you have any great fall ideas to share go ahead and post them. Perhaps you know some great local secret that no one else does. Either way enjoy the greatest season of the year. Visit us at:
