Introducing the Best Facebook Marketing Practices

There is a lot of buzz about social media marketing and Facebook marketing in particular these days. As a result, this post is meant to help those of you with specific Facebook marketing goals. So here’s my customized 3 step plan every business owner needs for their Facebook Marketing strategy.

Step 1: Optimize, Optimize, Optimize

It is pretty easy to create a Facebook page, but what does an optimized Facebook page really look like?

To help answer that question, we took the liberty to shoot a “how to” video for you:

  • Important notes for Facebook page optimization:
  • Customize your Facebook page URL.
  • Add a cover photo and a logo
  • Fill in as much “about” info as possible (include website name as much as possible)
  • Utilize internal Facebook linking (engagement with target audience)

Step 2: Get the Word Out

Most people create their Facebook page and implement a starting promotion to get the word out. Unfortunately, it is usually a one-time thing, and their social media strategy ends up falling through the cracks.

Here are some things you can do in order to create more exposure to your Facebook page:

  • Include social links in your company email blasts and signatures.
  • Socialize your website – Try the Wibiya toolbar to add social sharing and encourage people to stay on your website longer.
  • Tag people in your status updates – Find out who your top commenters are and tag them in your posts or photos to get them to interact with your updates.

Step 3: Create Killer Content

This is really the most important part to your strategy. A tool is useless unless you use it.

Blogging consistently is one great way to create awesome content. If you blog 1 – 2 times per week and share those blog posts on your Facebook page, you will really get some great results. This may seem like a lot of work, but if you can stick with it long-term, it will lead to an awesome social presence, and you’ll be helping your SEO out as well.

You can also use tools like Hootsuite to schedule out updates for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, ect.

Some Examples of Engaging Updates

When it comes to creating the best status updates possible, ask yourself, “What can I post to get people to comment or like my update?” Here a few status update examples that can achieve this purpose:

  • “Click LIKE if you are looking forward to Thanksgiving!”
  • “[Fill in the blank] My favorite part about Thanksgiving dinner is ___________.”

Both of these have easy calls-to-action with obvious results. We know that everybody is looking forward to Thanksgiving and they all look forward to something at Thanksgiving dinner.

If You Post It, They Will Come

Take it from an expert who’s personally witnessed success from these strategies. If you can stick to making your social media strategy a long-term commitment, you will have tremendous success with your Internet marketing goals.
