The Soundtrack of a Year
Looking back on the last 12 months, it’s easy to see that a lot has happened. ‘N Sync got back together for all of 2 minutes, Miley certainly…changed, and our very own Joe Cobb held hands with Beyonce! With so much to remember, there are a few 2013 releases that everyone must have. Many came from artists that are new on the music scene. Here are some 2013 favorites in no particular order:
CHVRCHES – The Bones of What You Believe
Lucius – Wildewoman
Lorde – Pure Heroine
Vampire Weekend – Modern Vampires of the City
Yellowcard – Ocean Avenue Acoustic
Haim – Days Are Gone
Hunter Hunted – Hunter Hunted
Death Cab for Cutie – Transatlanticism Demos
As you can tell, 2013 was a big year for new bands, but it was also a great year to be a female-led band, like CHVRCHES, Haim and many others. Another big trend, though, was the resurrection of past greats like Yellowcard, Death Cab and others with the release of refurbished and remixed albums. All in all, the year gave us a lot to be grateful for and a lot to listen to. Let’s see what 2014 produces!
