Traditional Can Still Work
With all of the advances in social marketing and the newer, faster ways to connect with your audience you may think that traditional advertising is going the way of the dodo. This is not the case at all. In fact, while some people are still annoyed by traditional marketing and advertising tactics they can still work for your business if you are willing to extend your marketing budget just a little bit. Here are the top 3 ways that you can enhance your customer base with advertising.
Create Desire Where There Isn’t Any
One of the greatest triumphs of advertising on television or on billboards is that even though people complain about it, this method of advertising creates genuine interest in a product. Remember as a child how you would see a commercial for a super cool remote control race car. Before the commercial you didn’t even know it existed but now, it’s all you can think of. As simplistic as this method seems, it works.
Create a Recognizable Brand
When people see something on television or hear about it on the radio (for example) certain cues stick in their head. How many times have you caught yourself humming the song to the neighbourhood carpet warehouse jingle or singing “Bah bah bah bah bah- I’m lovin’ it”. When your customers recognize your brand they will often choose your company over other brands even when your competitor has lower prices than you. The more familiar with your brand they are, the more likely your brand will be the one that your consumer chooses for their home or office. Brand loyalty is the main goal of many companies simply because a loyal customer is a happy customer who will spread the word of your product or services for free.
Advertising leads to education
If you are advertising your product or service properly your clients will find less need to “do research” online. Anyone who has dealt with online advertising knows that a bad review on a forum can lead to huge problems for a product or service. By providing enough information for the client to get a good grasp on your company you may be able to minimize brand defamation.
Advertising can be risky on the budget if you do not have a strong strategy in place. Remember, the benefits can outweigh the risks when you consider how much reach traditional advertising has had in the past and still has today.
