Google Goes Social with Search plus Your World

Google Keeps Getting Better and Better

Google is almost a part of our DNA. We use it so much because it usually provides exactly what we’re looking for. What Google has never before implemented into its algorithm, until now, is a more “personal” touch. For example, if I were to search for “bunny rabbits,” Google has now made it to where not only would websites about bunny rabbits show up, but Google+ posts and photos that are relevant to that search term would show up as well.

Google’s latest blog post, “Search, plus Your World,” explains that “Search is pretty amazing at finding that one needle in a haystack of billions of webpages, images, videos, news and much more. But clearly, that isn’t enough. You should also be able to find your own stuff on the web, the people you know and things they’ve shared with you, as well as the people you don’t know but might want to… all from one search box.”

What Will These New Search Results Include?

When you used to search for a term in Google Search, search results with content from people you didn’t know popped up in the results. With Search plus Your World, now you will find results from people you do know also, including:

  • Personal Results that apply directly to you
  • Profiles in Search which help you find people that you know or may be interested in
  • People and Pages that help you find profiles on Google+ that are related to your search query

When Can I Use Search plus Your World?

Google announced that Search plus Your World will become available over the next few days to people who are signed in and searching on Google Search.

Google understands the world we live in. We have our own family, friends, hobbies, and places we go to. Their objective is to help us become aware of the giant world we live in, the people we have yet to meet, and the information we have yet to discover. How cool is that!
