Keeping up with all the changes and updates of several social media platforms at a time can be a drag, but here at Innovation Simple we are all about making your life easier. We’ve put together some key information to make the best out of your company’s social media pages.

Did you know that posts that include an image are 87% more likely to get shared than posts without?

The best brand building techniques for social media include the use of visual material, such as: pictures, videos, infographics, etc. To do this properly, knowing the social media image sizes comes in handy.

Twitter

This platform offers different ways to display images, starting out with a profile photo and a header photo. Header images are also available on Facebook and Google Plus.

Before setting up the header image, think about who your target audience is, how you can help solve their questions/problems and what is the next step you want them to take (after seeing the image).

  • Header Photo:
    • 1500 x 500 px (recommended)
    • Maximum file size of 10 MB
    • JPG, GIF or PNG
  • Profile Photo:
    • 400 x 400 px (recommended)
    • Square image
    • Maximum file size of 100 KB
    • JPG, GIF or PNG
  • In-Stream Photo:
    • Min to appear expanded 440 x 220 px
    • Max to appear expanded 1024 x 512 px
    • Appears in stream collapsed at 506 x 253 px
    • Maximum size file of 5MB for photos and 2MB for animated GIFS

Facebook

This media platform’s cover photo is a great place to show the latest offers or even promote your blog posts.

All meaningful Facebook conversations begin with good content, including the images you share.fb

  • Cover Photo:
    • 851 x 315 px (recommended, if not anything else will be stretched)
    • Minimum file size of 399 x 150 px
    • Images with logo or text are better as a PNG file
  • Profile Photo:
    • 180 x 180 px (recommended)
    • Thumbnail: 32 x 32 px
    • On page: 160 x 160 px
  • Shared Images:
    • Appears on page as 851 x 315 px
    • Minimum size of 300 x 150 px
    • JPG file must be less than 100 KB
  • Shared Link:
    • Recommended upload size of 1200 x 627 px
    • Square photo: Min 154 x 154 px in feed / 116 x 116 on page
    • Rectangular photo: Min 470 x 246 in feed / 454 x 252 on page
  • Highlighted Image:
    • Appears on page as 843 x 504 px
    • Choose a higher resolution at that scale for better quality


Google +

If you don’t know when was the last time you updated your Google+ profile/page, now is the time to do it.

Unlike Twitter and Facebook, Google + renders your profile picture as a circle, so be extra careful, you wouldn’t want your best side to be cut off! social media, marketing, blog, infographic, Google + , Google plus

  • Profile Image:
    • 250 x 250 recommended (minimum of 120 x 120)
    • JPG, GIF or PNG
  • Cover Image:
    • 1080 x 608 recommended (minimum 480 x 270 / maximum 2120 x 1192 px)
  • Shared Image (thumbnail):
    • Shows in feed and on page as 150 x 150 px
  • Shared Image:
    • Appears in feed and on page as 426 and the height is scaled
    • Minimum width of 497 px / Maximum upload 2048 x 2048 px
